Default Looking to buy an 02

I found a 02 Road King with 44k for $8,000. With that mileage, are there things that should have been replaced already, 'cam tensioner'. If I average 1,000 miles a season, would I be finding more problems with this 88 Twin cam?

I bought a 2001 ultra last summer with 38,000 on the speedo for 8400. The cam tensioner shoes was about 1/2 gone so I had them replaced. I put about 6000 miles on it before winter hit ,,, has been a awesome bike.

If you are going to ride 1000 miles for the season, take the $8000 and spend it on taxi cabs and you will have extra cash to do other thing...
Sorry, could't resist.....

really Gia, a cab! My girlfriend is done riding her Buell Blast and wants a RK. We usually ride the Fat Boy together, but sometimes she wants to ride her own. Thanks for the technical advice.
I couldn't resist. : )

I would throw new lifters and tensioners at it and ride it.

imo 02 is the best year, upgraded swing arm, first year of delphi injection, last year of forged crankshaft and timken lefty bearing, if cam chain tensioners are a concern the cranks on the 02 are almost always straight enough to support gear drive cams.

Adjustable pushrods too...maybe a new cam...one thing leads to another when you're in the cam chest...

I agree, 02 is one of the best years as stated, is a good buy and will last a long time, upgrade the tensioners and your good to go.
