Default Gas/fuel question?

I know the answer is probably in my owners Manuel but, what kind of fuel are you guys using or what kind should I put in? Reg,plus or premium?

premium.

the motor may appear to run reasonably well with lower octane fuel- but the ECM will have retarded spark timing to compensate for the fuel resulting in reduced power and reduced MPG

given a choice in the boonies between name brand regular and "Capt Bob's Premium", I'd go for the name brand.
Some of us travel with a little octane boost in the saddlebag

I would always try to run at least 91 octane

Ethanol free for sure. If you don't know, be sure to ask.

Your right, it is listed right in the owners manual.
91 Octane or better

If your out on the road somewhere and have no other choice but to use regular, the engine sure isn't going to blow up though.
You will have to be more careful with the throttle, and keep in mind that you will very likely have some engine pinging with lower octane fuel.

Lots of good things listed in the owners manual.

Use premium. Buddy of mine decided to run regular to save a buck and said his bike ran like crap and pinged the entire time.

Buy the name brand fuel. If you have to purchase regular gas, dump in a bottle of octane boost.

I can run 87 octane with no ill effects. No ping and no apparent spark retard. My compression is stock, higher CR's will certainly need higher octane. That said, I still use 93.
