First thought is find another map for PCIII. It sounds likethe current one is running the bike to lean. You for surewant to get it in and get a dyno tune on it to ge the air/fuel ratio right. Just my .02

Heat wont shut down a cyl. but the parade map downloaded by a dealer to your ecm will, its designed to do as you said, does it shut down 1 cyl (rear I think) when at idle then come back on soon as you hit the gas? The dealer is required to remove it if you ask him to free of charge. But it wont hurt anything, some even like it.

I have the same setup ('06 RK Custom, PCIII, Stage 1, Rineharts).. I installed mself using the map provided by the manufacturer, and have had none of those issues. We had several 95-97 degree days last summer and the bike continued to perform fine.

What map did you select?

Yes , it is worth it to tune the PCIII as long as your tuner tunes Power Commanders. Even if no changes are made at least you have the peace of mind that everything is running at its best.
