yeah, the denim black and the gloss black are the exact same base color...just a different clearcoat process

thank you. i've been telling people this for years, but they refuse to believe it. yes, there is a clearcoat on the denim. i know people who have been shown that there is a clearcoat and will still tell people that there isn't..... frustrating. well, okay, only a little bit though

Thanks for the great input. I searched but didn't come across the buffed tank thread. I'm looking to get some hard bags for my black RKC and I could live with buffed out denim and potentially repaint later if not satisfied. That increases the chance to find used 2014 bags.

The local dealer told me a guy had polished a denim bike by mistake and it came out shiny. However, I didn't think it could turn out like this with some extra effort.

My Denim 883 looked a lot like gloss black, and that was just doing a light buff to it. No clear etc.

Good lookin', for sure.

Just remember that when you're buffing, you're still removing clear coat, so try not to go overboard...

+1 for gloss and chrome. My road glide is vivid black
