You're still riding at 82 heat is not gonna bother you man. Here in Idaho we get up into the triple digits as well and it's fine. If those that want to be cool while riding should stay in their cages... Come guy's what the hell happened to you guys... Man up!

Now just in case someone gets butt hurt.... get bent it's just my .$02
When I said AZ has two seasons, summer and hell, I was not whining. Just stating what is. Rode year around in AZ and loved the lack of a helmet law. The only time the heat really got me was riding through death valley. It was 115 plus and I could tell I was loosing it. Pulled off the freeway into the shoulder and shut down the bike. As soon as the kick stand was down I fell to the ground with heat stroke. A car noticed what had happened and came to my aid. Provided water and a water soaked towl to cool me down. After spending a couple hours a a near by burger king resting I made my way back to Goodyear AZ. I learned a lesson, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate when its hot.

I have rode a couple of times through Arizona, once in early June. Hotter then hell but my mistake was not hydrating properly. I was with a group and a couple were idiots who wanted to stand out in the heat talking to other idiots instead of moving. Riding was not too bad but sitting still in the blazing sun and 115 degree heat was a bit too much. Hydration is the real key and I learned my lesson.

Riding back from Sturgis in 2010 got pretty hot too with the high heat and humidity so the heat can be bad anywhere in summer. Drinking lots of water is about all you can really do to counteract your body temperature while on the bike. The bikes don't really seem to be a problem, at least they never were for me.

Yeah make sure to hydrate guys. Ride safe and take a break once in a while. You'll be fine.
As we get older we have to realize to slow down a bit, enjoy the ride and ride smart. Be safe everyone.

My old bike, on long extreme heat rides, I would bungee a bag of ice at front handlebars. It would last to the next gas stop, and then get another bag.

Just got a full fairinged SGS this year. Wind chill factor turns into wind heat factor, where the wind feels hotter, over around mid 90 degrees(92'?). Interested to see how it feels now with a fairing. Can't do the ice bag any more really, for evap cooling. Might be having a bag of ice in my lap on long trips, haha.

Arizona figures prominently into our moving/living plans in a few short years. We've been there (in all seasons) dozens of times, but never had the bike along. The way I figure it, Summer will present a challenge. I'd think our riding will be early morning or very late evening when the Sun isn't high in the sky. If you don't have the Sun to contend with, the heat is much more manageable.

Up here in Northern Minnesota we go for 5 or 6 months without riding at all. At least in Arizona, even in the hot Summer months, you can at least ride quite often if you plan your rides for morning or late evening. There will not be many months in a row when I cannot ride.....and that, I am looking forward to !

I crossed the desert a few times in the summer in a car and a pickup from AZ to CA w/never any AC, and it was brutal to say the least.
