Default Harley "Loud side-mount horn kit"

Any thoughts on Harley's "Loud side-mount horn kit" P/N 69060-90G..... They say it's significantly louder than the stock 91 to 13 horn.

Be Safe JIM

I'd like to see what others think about it. The horn is pretty much the only thing I don't like about my new bike. Stopped by my dealer to buy something better and they mentioned the Loud horn kit. Unfortunately, after looking it up they realized I already have it. Oh well!

My Goldwing has a fantastic horn and my work bike has an electronic air horn that is perfect. If I could find something louder that isn't too big I'd like to switch. I like the sound of the Mini Beast IV, but it looks huge....not sure I want to take the plunge.

This kind of thing just frustrates me about HD. Yeah, I get all the ideas of making money on after-market upgrades. But to consciously keep stamping out the anemic horn they have made since the 60's is a compromise on safety.

Standard on the 2014 bikes.
Curious how it sounds, just hit the horn at the dealership and compare with the earlier years.
There is a difference.

I just bought a pair of Fiamm Highway Blaster horns - cost $15 each - Motorcycle Consumer News just tested them and concluded they were as loud as air horns at a fraction of the price. I'm going to put one in the stock location and one under the left side cover. The hi/lo combination should make my bike sound like a car. Joe
ps 5db is a lot

I bought the Fiamm Highway Blaster horns and mounted them on the front bolts that hold the tank. I wired them with a relay and also kept the stock horn. The three of them are as louw as any bike air horn. Think I paid $18 for the Fiamm horns that have a high low tone.

Doubling of the volume (loudness) should be felt as a level difference of 10 dB − acousticians say.
Doubling the sound pressure (voltage) corresponds to a measured level change of 6 dB.
Doubling of sound intensity (acoustic energy) belongs to a calculated level change of 3 dB.

10 dB = twice the perceived volume or twice as loud (Loudness nearly sensed − psychoacoustics).
+6 dB = twice the amplitude (Voltage respectively sound pressure − mostly measured RMS value).
+3 dB = twice the power (Power respectively intensity − mostly calculated).

Point being that 5db is a significant change..... FWIW

I read somewhere that the Wolo Air Horn, the Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn and the Harley Mini-Beast are all the same horn. It looks like it's possible but they all claim a different db rating. Not sure it makes a difference anyway since the all direct the sound out to the side. I got the Stebel because it had the highest rating by a couple db. But wish I had got a dual set of chrome Fiamms I spotted a few months later. Could have mounted them on the crash guard pointing forward. And being chrome would still look okay I think. I'm always seeing something better after I've done something

That looks interesting. I have been holding off on a new horn, because of the high cost, need for rewiring and altered appearance of some of the ones I liked, like the Rivco.
This is pretty reasonable and a direct replacement. I am glad they finally improved the horn, and made it available for older bikes.
