Default Cleaning Wheels on Ultra Limited

Cleaned the bike tonight and did my once a year job cleaning the wheels (with them on the bike). Good God what a beatdown! Especially the rear!

Anybody use any spray on cleaner like they have for car wheels? Always afraid to try. Any other good shortcuts?

I take off the saddlebags and use a long-handled dish brush with my regular wash blend on my chrome knuckles wheels. Scrub, rinse, move the bike, repeat. Hit it with a leaf blower then wipe down with microfiber. Not really a tough job - maybe 10 minutes tops? Would be easier putting the bike on a stand but I don't have one.

I ride year-around and my rear wheel gets pretty bad. I use Meguiars Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner with good results. I follow up with Nevr-Dull and finish with Mother's Metal Polish. It takes about 2 hours for both rims and I do mine about twice a year.

I put mine on a Jack and wash my spokes with the brush and the car soap. I use Maguire detailing to shine them up and go. A Jack is nice to just spin the wheel

Get wheels off ground using a jack http://www.pitbullmotorcyclelifts.co...tand-info.html . Remove bags and wash thoroughly with Chemical Guys "Citrus Wash + Gloss" http://www.chemicalguys.com/Chemical..._p/cws_301.htm while using a HD Wheel and Spoke Brush http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...brush-43078-99 on wheels . Blow dry using Hog Blaster http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...torcycle-dryer .Pull up a stool and apply Chemical Guys "Wheel Guard" http://www.chemicalguys.com/Chemical..._p/wac_303.htm. Took many years of trial and error , tool collecting , disappointing results and skinned knuckles to get to how I clean my wheels now .

I love a clean and shiny bike, but the last thing I am going to do is take hours to clean my wheels every week.

My solution, bought a set of take off Street Glide wheels and put them on my Ultra Classic. Put it on a jack, spray with some wheels cleaner, hit it with the pressure washer and follow with the leaf blower and done in 10 minutes.

I hate these wheels I don't think I've ever got them completely clean since I've owned the bike.Good suggestions here but the best so far is buy a set of SG wheels.Although a toilet brush, a jack and a leaf blower might be cheaper.

I use rollers that I can ride up on with either the front or rear wheel, so I don't have to move the bike more than once. I do need to put a wooden block under the jiffy stand though. The rollers I use are from a winch fairlead but you can buy cheaper ones built for motorcycle use at Princess Auto for less than $30. last time I looked. Makes cleaning the wheels easier but you still need to sit on the ground.
