I knew my challenge might be difficult for those of us in big, square shaped states but I thought someone from a small, squggly lined shaped state would have completed this by now.

A little over 300 miles, but I got to see my grandbaby too.

Next challenge is your bike in front of a sign with the name and population of a town and the population has to be less than 250.

You are correct, I stand corrected. I didn't think about it that way, but yes I grew up knowing when hanging the union is at the top. Ok, got me then what is wrong.

Hopefuly the military people will chime in and correct me if I am wrong, but looking at the picture I'm thinking that the poster is comparing the paint job to the decal.
I see what you mean as compared to the paint job. I've shown several people pictures of that bike, I explained that if I ever owned a bike that was a color other than black it would be that paint job. I, personally, would want the skull to display the flag properly, regardless of the paint scheme. EBR (Eric Buell racing) run a black American flag on their bikes. I want one for the Electra Glide.

Would a "Home Made" sign at the end of my driveway count?

Funny... There was this old logger up by my grandmother's cabin that was a regular at the backwoods bar Gram worked at summers.
He would let me come over to go fishing in his pond when I was a teen.

He was around 70 when he married his wife, 18. According to him, she "couldn't keep up"...

She came home one day and caught him naked in bed with a woman from the bar.

His name was Doyle Holmes... everyone knew him as, and called him "Doodle"

The sign at the end of his driveway, professional grade, read:

Welcome to Doodleville!
Population: 1
Usually: 2
Sometimes: 3
