I've been told many times that the frame change in '08-'09 decreased rear tire wear considerably

I had a Harley dealer in Missouri tell me they saw increased rear tire life when the fixed rear pulley was changed over to the IDS pulley. I did that on mine but I also switched over to an E3 at about the same time so I don't know which is helping me more. I am getting better rear tire mileage than before, which was only about 5000 miles.

2011 Ultra with the D407/D408: 20k on first set, 18k on second, just started on the third & have about 7 miles on them so far. Paid really close attention to tire pressures during the first 20k; not so diligent on the next 18k (weekly checks & daily on long rides vs. monthly & daily on long rides). One thing about it is the front & rear wear pretty evenly and both need to be replaced about the same time.
Considering that every other bike I've owned only got about 7-9k per rear & 15k fronts, I'm really happy about it as I'm getting about 3-5k further per set, and the even wear reduces the rear tire replacement costs (one less tire to buy).
