I have the razor pak for the amp, and storage for the basics (rain suit & tool kit). I am beyond pleased with it. It is not flimsy in the least, side walls are reinforced all the way around.

Did you install the hardware yourself and if so what all is needed? I've read new holes may need to be drilled for the mounting rack and spacers needed for latches.

I picked up a black one from a member here on HDForums for $75. He had carpeted the inside and included some hardware. Couldn't pass up the deal.

I bought the Harley mount $150+.

Talked to a couple painters. $400 was the cheapest quote.

Went to Autozone. Picked up a can of Blue Metallic that looked close, and a can of Clear Coat. = $10.

Only used it once for a 1400 mile trip.

Going down the road, no one was pointing and laughing. Guess it was all good.

for those of you that have the Mutazu...are you using the wrap around backrest or the chopped/smaller pad? I'm not a fan of the wraparound...especially since I will use it solo mounted.

I use the wrap around and added speaker pods and speakers under them for that complete look.

I had one of there TP trunks and it fell apart at the hinges the first season, about 5500 miles. A friend bought one the same time as I did and his made about 2 seasons and his broke at the hinges as well, about 8500 miles. When I bought my 13 RGC, I decide to buy the HD one from Kutter HD for $622.00 and it comes painted to match your bike. I can't see buying a TP that you would have to have painted to match as the paint job will take away the savings you saved an HD TP.. Granted, I did have to buy the backrest pad and lock but I don't like the wrap around pads so I installed one for a chopped TP.. If your bike is Vivid Black, you can probably get away with using an aftermarket one and save some coin. If you need to have it painted to match, I would just order one from Kutter HD.. They also offer free shipping on orders over $99.00!!!

Best of luck with whatever you decide to try..

If i didn't have vivid black that is exactly what i would do, what year style model were you guys running that broke so quickly? Did you use the reinforcing plate? Any pics so we can see were to keep an eye out for damage, i'm sure you must have took a ton after paying all that money and having it break so soon!

I think the OP is referring to the more expensive Mutazu Harley look-a-like trunk, rather than the cheaper flimsy one.

Rolling... A couple questions for you. With your Mutazu pack did you also get their mount rack? I did, and it's longer than the razor pack slot where it sits in. It Overlaps the front of the pack by about 1/2 inch. Also what bolt size did you use to secure it to the rack mount ?

One of the reasons that some buy the Mutazu cheapie is that it comes complete, with all the options most want, but hate to pay extra for from HD.

Extra large double contour cushion backrests (Upper and Lower)
Heavy duty Chrome lock with two keys
Double Lid retaining wires
Bottom interior pad and cushion pad
Weather rubber seal for water proof
Mounting hardware
Extra set of mounting brackets

For people that only will use it for a few trips a year, or want something to toss on when the lady wants to come along and needs both a backrest and a place to carry her things, that $99 can be pretty appealing. It is also much lighter, and does not feel as top heavy as the HD.

For the true road warriors, or people that will use the trunk a lot, the full HD package will be the way to go.
