Since I built this from scratch with Harley premium add on parts I used the Harley retractable tether, but hated it! It opened the top too much for my liking, so I traded with a buddy for his stock lid cable.

I would agree if I hadn't seen one in person first, now if I was lined up by 10 other stock tour packs you wouldn't be able to tell who had stock and who had the mutazu. I've had mine for years with zero issues and me and the wife do long three week 6800 miles camping road trips with it.

The only negative reviews I've seen from these newer packs are from people that have never had one and just basing from there beliefs. I bet I could dig up at least ten different threads from stock Harley tour packs breaking and cracking, show me ten mutazu threads about broken tour packs!

I'm sticking with my cheap tour pack, Harley sells a lot of parts that are more expensive than after market but that doesn't make them all better!

I was talking about the cheap $79 Mutazu trunks. Like I said, their Harley clone looks pretty good. I had one of the cheap ones, plastic hinges and flimsy latches that break easily.

I purchased one about 2 years ago for $140 on ebay. All in all its a good product. Its definitely not the same quality or same size as HD tour pak but it did get the job done. The lock isn't the greatest but I never left anything in there of value. It does only fit ONE full face helmet but will fit a ton of other crap (mostly the wifes!!) I would recommend getting the wrap around cushion upgrade. You will have to mark and drill holes for the HD mounting kit. Wasn't that difficult. Color was good and so was the paint job. Id buy another for the price.

Delivery depends on their stock. On mine it came in just a couple days, but they are in San Fran and I am in San Diego.

If you have a Street Glide you might like their DMY line. It is sized between a full and chopped Harley. Fits well with the Street Glide stripped down look.

You can add lights and stuff pretty inexpensively, but mine has been left plain.

On of the joys of this DMY as it comes complete with padded backrest, cable supports (2) lock and keys (2) interior pads for $99. If it does not meet your higher standards you can just use it for a few rides and resell it on Craigs list.

You can add inexpensive LED lighting, chrome top rack, wrap around arm rests etc pretty cheaply if you want.

They are easy to deal with and pretty user friendly.

Fully understand those that want to stick with Harley due to it's quality, but these get the job done for pennies on the dollar.

I have even loaned mine to riding buddies for a quick trip, and they seemed to appreciate the convenience.

While I can't say anything concerning the tourpak, as mine is HD, I did buy a set of lower fairings and saddle bags from Mutazu. It might have just been the ones I got, but I'm not quite sure the vivid black is true HD vivid black. In the sunlight, mine didn't match right. The only way I can describe it is that those parts were milky looking. Not quite gray, but not brilliant black either. The other thing I will say is there were some imperfections such as it looked like around edges where they peeled tape away, it took some paint too. So the inside edges of the bags weren't in great condition. Same goes for the edges of the lowers. They are very small things that really only you will notice, probably. Luckily (and unluckily, I guess) my bike was backed into and both the saddlebags and lowers ended up getting replaced with genuine HD parts through the lady's insurance. lol

If you're only getting it to use a couple times a year, you probably wont even care. Just wanted to share my experience.

I bought lowers from them also, the paint did match my vivid black but there were a couple imperfections in the paint, other then that they work great, mine are vented and for the money are a good deal. Shipping for me was also very fast and I am in Virginia.

thanks for all the insight and opinions. that's what I love about this forum, but hate how it cost me money. I will probably just get a lid and base and then HD hardware. like I originally said, this pack will only be used a few times a year and I can't justify spending big bucks on a OEM that will just sit and collect dust most of the year.

Just beware... If you give her the space... She will use it... lol

My wife has become very picky too. Having the arm rests and high backrest of the tourpak has spoiled her.
