Default Lowering suspension

I've just purchased a cvo 2014 ultra and I'm thinking about lowering suspension by 1 inch front and rear using progressive on the rear is this generally accepted as an improvement on the stock suspension? I'm struggling to get flat footed with the cvo so the suspension mod will help because I don't really want to ditch the cvo heated seat ....... Any advice appreciated

Progressive makes a good product. As long as you lower front and rear. I went with Harley low profile front and back and have enjoyed the ride. Good luck with your new bike.

Lowering the seat height is the best way to go first. Suspension changes are not only very costly but will affect your ride. Contact these guys http://www.meancitycycles.com/. See what they can do for you before considering any suspension changes.

and thick boot soles.

the stock rear suspension travel is about 3 inches.

so a shorter shock such as the streetglide shock will give suspension travel of 2 inches.

so less space for damping to happen, in less time.
that'll give you a jouncy ride.

if you use lowering blocks you can retain 3" travel, although the stock angle is changed, so travel slightly compromised.
this is an easy $60 or so 20 minute job.

doing teh front end gets pricey for labour as there is alot of stuff in the way.

try the rear first

Default 944's

I did the Progressive 944's and the front Progressive drop in's. You just spent 20K +....spend another 1K and have it be your dream bike. I tried the reduced seat and higher boot heels...Wish I just did the suspension to start. (better ride as well)

I did the Mono Tubes and 944's on my Ultra. Rides better and got my feet flat on the ground with room to spare. 1 inch doesn't sound like a lot, but it will make a big difference. Having the seat reworked will help also, getting the nose of the seat narrowed so your legs are closer together will make a difference, not as much as changing the suspension.
Don't know how much seat time you have on your 14, maybe with a few more miles you will get more comfortable and not have to change anything.
Good luck.

I just did a lowering block kit on my 08 FLHT. Went down 1 inch, but the blocks can also go 2 or 3 inches lower. Rides just as good as stock but a little easier to move around in parking lots. I have a 32 inch inseam so my feet are well planted. Less than 30 minutes to install

X1 They're doing my RGU seat right now.
You might also consider these guys to rebuild and shorten you stock shocks at a reasonable price: http://bitchinbaggers.com/products/drop-shocks/

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm going to lower the suspension, as you say I have spent a lot of money so I need to get this right and generally the suspension mod seems to improve ride so it's a bonus.

choose components wisely, or your ride quality will not be improved.
There are quite a few threads which detail suspension mods, you should have a look at some of those.

I have some lowered bikes, my touring bike isn't one of them
