the speedo could just be steel filings collected on the magnetic sensor. top of the tranny help in place with allen screw. remove and clean with rag. ( the other sensor that screws in in the neutral switch)
poor idle could be any number of things
battery fully charged?
filter clean ( in tank) fuel lines in tank ok ( some get pinholed).
sensors all clean?
gonna have to play 20 questions to hone in on the answer
do you have a any trouble codes from the EFI ? ( if you don't know how to pull these you can find instructions on youtube)
how long have you had the bike?
was the cop stuff removed nicely or hacked off- in other words is the wiring harness a mess?

Wiring was hacked when I got it about three years ago. It took a 5 gal bucket to hold all the wire and electrical add on crap the previous owner poorly installed. Once we rewired it I had no problem until recently. Swapped bars. Changed the drive belt. Put a new battery and all if tge wiring was nylon tied by an aircraft mechanic to prevent chaffing. Checked the sensor for metal recently. When the speedo goes out is when it won't idle. A mechanic ride it 3 weeks and never had a problem. I rode it one day and it did the same speedo thing within 50 miles.

It needs input from the speed sensor for the Fuel Injection to work correctly. I would replace the speed sensor. When I had an '02 Ultra I tried cleaning off the senor but that only worked for a few miles. After replacing the sensor the speedometer worked again and the bike ran properly. With the speedometer not working, the bike did not want to idle when I came to a stop. I had to keep playing with the throttle to keep it running.
