Default Installing lowers with SE Heavy Breather

I recently got a 2013 SG with a SE Heavy Breather. I tried to install the lowers that came with it, but can not seem to get the right side to fit with the air cleaner. Can lowers be used with the SE Heavy Breather?

I have a Road King and a Road Glide, both with chrome lowers and both with the Heavy Breather. Can't understand why there would be a problem. Oh wait, you must be talking about hard fairing lowers???? There is a shorter breather for that application.

Yep...the shorter filter. But...if you plan to add speakers later on to your lowers, they wont fit with ANY heavy breather filter. You will have to find the older "ventilator" air cleaner or go aftermarket.

I asked my dealer about this a couple weeks ago as I'm thinking about upgrading to an SE Heavy Breather. They confirmed I'll need to use the compact Breather for use with my lowers.

Both Breather styles are $330 in the HD P&A book.

Yes you can buy just the short filter, I bought a K&N shorty that I found a part number on a old thread by using the search feature. Also ordered the Harley short rain cover on line as well. Another good option if your going with lowers and a heavy breather is to use the magnetic doors to access the storage much easier!

Do a search for them. Use the key words "Harley Ventilator". If you want chrome or black enter the words "Chrome" or "Black" (ex: Harley Ventilator Black) into the search along with "Harley Ventilator" and you will find them from $225 to $250 from various websites.
