Hi,
I am looking to buy a bike cover for my 2014 FLHXS to be used just for touring.
I will have no antennas on the back starting next week, but will have the "aero" two up luggage rack and the low sissy bar.
I need something that folds up small, takes up little room.
Water resistance is good but not the major consideration.
Mainly I want to hide the bike when I'm parked at a hotel somewhere.
I have the deluxe HD cover for at home so I'm .. err .. covered.

The cover should be a full cover, preferably water repellent if possible.
But, as mentioned, a thin fabric that folds up small may not be the strongest but if it works it works.
Any recommendations as to brand, model, size - would be greatly appreciated. Post links if you got em.

I use the XL cover from Autozone at my apartment. light, inexpensive and covers my RK w/ a fairing w/ room to spare.

 

I do not know if a cover will make your bike less noticeable at a hotel.

 

Nelson Rigg has a wide range. Mine is very light nylon, easily stuffs into its own sack and can be packed or bungied along on trips. Has elastic in the front and rear and grommets on the sides. About $50.00

 

A cover is going to take up precious space while touring, and more importantly will grind road grime into your paint if the wind blows on it.

No cover for me.

 

For a cheapo deluxeo Wally World, XL. Bought one for my RK. folds up nice and small, water resistant, and has the heat shield on the bottom, elastic on bottom and grommets. Perfect.

 

Yep, this. I was on a 3 week road trip last summer, one week was with the fam at the beach, so it was parked with the cover on it. Protected it from the beating sun and some pretty hard rains. Its inexpensive and folds up pretty small.

 

Touring with my bride requires all the space I can find, and I absolutely agree that a cover put on over road grime is a bad thing. Just pick a well lighted hotel, lock it, and hope for the best.

We go for 6-10 day roads trips every summer.

I've never used a cover, as others have said, if it's slightly windy, the cover will move and if nothing else make swirl marks and wear the paint.

I try to get the bike as close to the room as possible, lock it and don't worry about it.
If it rains overnight, just wipe off the seats and hit the road.
Never had a problem.

OP: a cover won't hide your bike, if anyones going to screw with it, it won't matter if there's a cover on it or not.

 

I didn't consider the wind flapping factor.
Tradeoff for the light weight I guess.

Compressible down to about football size would be nice.
The deluxe HD cover is about full briefcase size.
I suppose a long bungee wrapped around the bike might reduce the flapping'
but it introduces hassle factor.
