Default RE: Detachable Tour Pack Question????

Just finished this job on the wife's Street Glide. If you are talking about the spacers that are radiused on one side, they go between the bar and the rack. The tour pack sits directly on the bar. At least that is what my instructions showed.

Regards,

Bill

They space the bar off the bottom of the pack best I remember, it was pictured in the instructions.

If you look at the sheet in your instructions labeled "Service Parts Part Number 53276-04, Date 12/04" you will see that the spacers go between the rack and the bar. When the wife gets home to show me how to run the scanner, I can get you a copy of my instructions if that will help.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks Bill, I'll recheck my instructions at home, appreciate the offer. I'm sure I overlooked it when I was trying to decipher them.

I put the detachable on my wife's 07 Classic two weeks ago. I just went to the garage to see how I did it. They go under the bar so the nuts have a flat surface to secure against. In other words, the pizza box goes directly on the bar, the aluminum "thingies" as you called them, go on the bottom. Hope this clarifies it for you.

they stack up like this,
tour pak....... u-shaped bar......... spacer(flat side down)..... detachable rack. the spacer allowsthe round of the tube to become aflat surface to contact the flat top of the detachable rack.

on the bolt on tour pak rack the spacer goes under the tubing to allow for a flat surface for the nut to tighten up to.

They go between the round bar and the rack. The tourpack sits on the round bar. I just did the install last weekend.

I have not even recieved my ride yet and perhaps this is a little premature, but I am going to ask anyway.
What do you do about the arial for the radio?
Are there provisions for this with the kit?
How long does this quick release kit really take to remove and reinstall. Is it really quick or just doable?
