LA choppers 12" SG twin peaks internal wiring is not going well! Left side wires are in. Then I ran 2 weed eater pull wires to the right side for switches and throttle. TBW went in fine, as I'm pulling the right side switch wires, I'm was almost all the way through the tape and heat shrink let go from the pull wire! So I pulled out the switch wires to start over and now I can't even feed the pull wire through! Maybe the new thing should be apes with exposed wiring!

 

If they have loose ends I bend the wire slightly, just one is needed, this will aid in tape not turning loose.
I would think weed eater would be too slick for the tape to hold onto unless it is the knotted type, look likes little *****

 

I use a thin chain, makes it easy to zip tie the wires securely to the chain, never let lose after many times pullin wires thru.

 

Been there and almost did that myself. What are you using to lube the wires? I used dish soap. Took me about a week to get them done I had to walk away several times. After I got them done I found another set of bars I liked a lot more and pulled it all back out. I bought a set of 1 1/2 bars took less then 5 minutes to run both sides of wires.

I installed the same bars. I used masking tape to tape the pull line to the wires in several places (but not where there were connections) and then use some black electrical tape to keep the bundle tight together, it is smoother then other tape.

I also used weed eater line and mine went through without to much of an issue. Of course I used 12" wire extensions so I had plenty of wire to attach my pull line to.

 

Thanks for the replies. Are you guys running the TBW and switches together or separate? I ended up getting the TBW out. Right side is now empty.

 

I really like the chain idea really cool and a good idea.
I'm going to remember that.

 

I have 14 inch twin peaks on my Electraglide. I used string tied to the wires in several positions about an inch or two apart. Tie a nut to string for fishing it through the bars. Also used dish soap to help the wires slide easier.

 

I ran mine separate. I used ceiling fan chain, wires don't slip off.
Came thru in 2 minutes on my Yaffe 12" Monkey bars
Need lots of wire lube, push on feed end before you pull and be patient.

I have done two sets with TBW. Had to pull wires together. Couldn't make them pull separate.
