Default Ok what are the differences between lower fairings?

I think I would like to break down and install the lower fairings so now I need to decide which ones to get. I've heard there are changes to the 2014 lowers but I'm not sure what's different about them from the 2013 lowers. I know I've seen people on here pick up lowers on eBay pretty cheap compared to the 2014's in the HD catalog. The 2014's color matched from HD will be over $1300. Can someone break down the differences for me and maybe point out the pros and cons? Thanks!

Where did you get that price? My buddy just got a new set for 550.00 from Surdyke. They were for a 13 and were color matched. If there is that big of a difference in price, there is no way I would get the newer version...

I'm sorry I was thinking about the dang stretched bags when I said $1300. I'm not sure how much the lowers are color matched, I'm looking back in the catalog now trying to add it up. Again sorry the $1300 was the stretched bag cost.

I've seen them in the Harley parts catalog colored matched for $700. Might be cheaper to get the Chinese version and then get them painted. To each his own, I suppose.

Ok I was way off...lol... The 2014's in the catalog color matched are $699.95 and do not include glove box doors. Is this new style worth the extra cost compared to eBay and then having them painted to match my Charcoal Pearl?

I think 699.00 is what the old ones cost at retail too. You can get them through Surdyke for 550.00. With that being said, I would probably go that route and get them already color matched...

I have a 2013 KLHTK-A and the lowers I do believe are the same that was on my 2007 FLHTCU. No doors on either but the compartment in them really don't hold that much any way. the snap on covers work just fine but a set of speakers in them would be a better use for them, IMO

you have a 14. i would go with the color matched already from hd. even if you could get them from ebay, by the time you paid for the painting, it would be over the hd price. unless of course you can paint or you know someone who can. and since they've changed the style somewhat, you don't want to 'mix and match'....

on the glovebox doors, you really have to watch the terminology in the catalog. it says that glovebox and lid is included, but doors are not. so it would come complete with the snap on cover, but if you wanted a 'hinged' door, that would be extra.

check with your favorite discounter on the price. when i bought mine, the denim black lowers were $480. even cheaper than the vivid black.

if you don't have a favorite discounter, try hornytoad hd. jon.horton@hornytoadhd.com i've been buying my stuff from jon for about 3 years now. has always beat everyone else's price and the service has always been quick.

Here are pics of the lowers that I installed last week. They have Polk DB651's in them. Oh and by the way, they're the "cheap ebay" Mutazu, lowers. Looks good, huh! I paid $179 for them.
