Default Dumb question - Down tube label?

Hi. I hate labels, stickers, tags etc. I was looking at the label on the down tube of my '14 SGS, it's ugly! Is this something that can be removed without a problem, or is it one of those Fed things that can't be touched? I don't want to get the vehicle impounded.

Anybody ever been hassled for removing it? I'm in CA if that makes any difference.

I always remove mine. I cant imagine a regualtory scenario that requires it after purchase. What if you want to get your frame painted? I've never heard of anyone ever getting busted for not having it.

Your VIN number is stamped into the frame, there's no other information on that sticker aside from what the VIN number tells you.

I bet you still have the tags on your pillows too!! LOL!!

Pull those ugly bitches off there. I'm pretty sure if you get pulled over, its not going to be because youre missing frame stickers. My bet is it won't hurt your resale either. If anything, it will look MUCH cleaner and eye appealing!

Haven't lived in SoCal for awhile, but I think recently CA has a 'sticker law' regarding motorcycles meeting EPA standards, including noise. Might of been what Gov. Arnold signed, but a good idea to check with your DMV.

Also, if you ever want to trade-in or sell your bike, those stickers might be needed. Not sure if dealers have 'em to slap 'em back on if they're missing though.

While the vin is stamped on the frame and engine, the info on the stickers is not available (or they won't/can't look it up) to DMV or local cops. If ya have registration/ownership/cop trouble ya can have the bike impounded til the info is verified. More likely ya will need to make an appointment for CHP inspection. Ya may not want that for many reasons??

That is called the federal ID label. AFAIK, you can remove it, but it's the ONLY way to prove that the bike wasn't reframed, as new frames don't come with 'em. Think about that for resale. Would you buy a bike that you weren't sure has been reframed? I wouldn't buy a bike without this label, but that's me.

I brought a bike in from out of state and the DMV needed that label to register the bike.

Goo Gone and a Heat Gun, I've removed all those types of stickers on every bike I've owned. I've also been pulled over way to many times but never had a problem with not having them on the bike.
