Speaking of oil coolers - those that have them - can you hear the thermostat click open?? Mine is more a loud "clank" sound. First time, I thought I ran over something.

RE: Oil Coolers???
The dealer installed mine when I bought the bike. I also bought the HD oil temperature gauge. I is still relatively cool here, so the oil cooler thermostat seldom opens. They installed the oil temperature gauge in the return from the oil cooler, so it typically reads minimum scale. Only when setting in traffic does the engine oil get hot enough to open the oil cooler thermostat. According to my gauge it opens at around 180 degF. Although the oil cooler does not seem to provide any benifit now, I will get a better indication this summer when teperatures run in the high 90s. If it does not have much impact, I will probably remove it and sell it on ebay.

Was in the 80's Friday - rode 45 minutes. After I got home, I could still touch the oil cooler - only warm (not hot). How hot do they get - can youactually touch them? i.e. I'm not sure mine if actually working. Do you have to take the oil filter mount off to get at the thermostat?

RE: Oil Coolers???
I just installed mine last night. don't know what you saw when you installed it but I didn't see anything inside the off-set adapter that looked like a temperature check valve. but then I wasn't looking that hard.
what I do know is the anti-spin device and thetoo short screws JAGG provided with it are now laying on my work bench. couldn't get more than maybe one and a half threads. no way I could apply enough torque to avoid future oil leaks. pretty disappointed with the anti-spin hardware. hopefully, it won't be needed at filter removal time.
but I do like the JAGG off set adapter and the fact the hoses are below the filter and out of the way. also a big benny, the filter now sets up a little higher and am able to use the longer oil filter.
as we sayin Jacksonville, FL, "go Jaggs" or is that "Go Jags?"
