Are you short? Lowering makes cornering a bit rougher.

but it also kills your cornering clearance

Lowered my RKC both front and back...didn't really notice any different handling, maybe it doesn't absorb the bumps quite as good as stock though, but I notice only a slight difference. I have an easier time swinging my leg over the seat and dismounting, can touch the pavement flat footed, it's easier to back up.....no regrets.

I have a 2004 RK, running 21" front and 18" rear.
Lowered front 1 1/4 and rear 1 inch, bike rides great, anymore than 1.5 and you will start feeling a change in ride...and yes corneringdoesget rough as far as scraping floorboards, but overall control is better as well as looks
With the 21 & 18 even though its lowered cornering for me is fine
