Default Music storage other than Ipod?

OK I updated my system with the new software but I'm still having this problem with the radio "Finding" Ipod. When I select my ipod that is plugged in with the cable the damn radio will scroll "Finding Ipod" across the top. While it is doing this I can not select a play list or songs. Sometimes turning the bike off and back on will correct this issue and it works normally but other times like the 30 minutes I just spent in the garage the damn thing would not ever stop scrolling and work right. My Iphone 5 is connected vis Bluetooth and it works great every time I switch to it. The only reason I don't use it instead or the ipod is because you can not use the playlist over Bluetooth. You can only listen to what ever you select on your phone. So if I select a playlist before taking off im stuck to that playlist. If I select all songs I have to listen to them in order or shuffle. Some times I like to navigate to a playlist or rock and then back to country or so on. Is anyone else having this problem with their ipod? Mine is a gen 2 8gig so I might try buying a new ipod nano to see if it is a compatibility issue with the old ipod. Has anyone found a way to store music on a flash drive using playlist? Or do you just store the music and listen to it in order or with shuffle? I like to select specific songs sometimes. Help!!

I have a mate with a 2014 SGS and he had the same issue on his iPod, we tried mine and it worked immediately.
"Perhaps" you have a dodgy connection to the iPod? Before you drop the few hundred on a new iPod/iPod Nano etc try another one from a friend and see if that works.
If you experience the same issue, I assume you're still under warranty?? maybe an issue with the the new stereo connectivity, and Mr Harley and Mr Davidson should rectify this for you.
Good luck.

That's encouraging. I need a new ipod anyway because I gave my 160gig classic to my son for the 8gig because he needed more capacity for all his damn rap songs. Well that and you cant say no to your kids...lol... I need more capacity that the 8gig as well so I'll buy the largest capacity nano this time around. I wish they made a 64gig nano but I think they only make it in the ipod touch which I have no need for.

Why not just buy a 32 or 64G thumb drive? Put all your music on one of those. Much cheaper.

Because I haven't found a way to create playlist or folders with a thumb drive. I want to have playlist to separate music and make it easier to find songs. When you have several thousand songs on there how do you find a specific song quickly? I like to create several playlist with my favorite or most listened to music and then all the rest.

There is a way to download playlists onto a flash drive. My fiancée has done it for me. Sorry I can't help with how, but I assure you it is possible. I use it on my Sony head unit.

That's great news and I hope for the same outcome! I don't remember ever having this issue with the latest gen iPod Classic I gave my son, it only started lately with this damn old a$$ nano. I guess since the weathers been so bad the last few weeks and I haven't been able to ride much I kind of forgot about the issue until today when I updated the software.
