Default Magnetti Marelli FI stock or not?

My 99 RK has the MMFI and is set up with Stage 1 upgrade. Currently runs perfect. Bought the bike this way almost a year ago now. Those that have MMFI, how is your bike set up? I've been told these bikes are best left stock with only minor engine mods recommended. Local HD service tech says don't touch it and hope for the best. He said they did a carb swap about three years ago but ended up costing the guy about 3k to do it. Who knows maybe it's still worth it. I LOVE my RK!

..MM's aren't the worst thing in the world...early Twin Cams had em..99-2001 or 2, I think...don't screw with it is my advice...they are obsolete, and I don't believe there are any downloads available for that system from HD...if it runs perfect like you say..then just enjoy it till it breaks..hopefully that's a long time from now...

MM started in 1995.

i wouldn;t have a bike with it

if yours is working, ride on.

a carb conversion can be $3k I suppose...or more like $600 if the owner does the work and knows what he is doing...CV carbs are about $100 used....
fuel tank bung and petcock, some hose...manifold adapter about $20, ignition module like a crane hi4

My '00 Rk had a 95" in it til it lost the cam chest/motor. Stock 88" crate now. Still has the 95 download and running good. If it is working don't worry about it. Parts are not very available and folks that can fix them are scarcer. There are still some add-on tuners available if ya want to hot it up. May be cheaper/easier to get a different bike rather than switch to a carb, unless ya are good on ebay/Craigs list/swap meets/ and a good wrench..

My buddy's 96 has it and he has had great luck with it. Being obsolete is the only problem in case of something major failing, but knock on wood, so far so good.
