"I'm wondering if a 96ci twin cam with slip on mufflers, SE or similar air cleaner and the proper remap would equal (surpass?) the horsepower on an otherwise stock 103ci that has only slip on mufflers? "
uhh yeaa, read the first part of sentence. the point is the other guy was referencing a 96er with full exhaust upgrade, big diff from slip ons. the se air cleaner is not the big deal here. Actually none of this is.
The only place you would notice that difference is on a dyno and I don't ride on a dyno.
Point being (and I should have added); the 103 is way more detuned than the 96. My 13 year old 95 puts out basically identical numbers as a new 103. I don't ride on a dyno either there puddles, so put away the tape measure. A tuned 96 is hard to beat.
there was a comparison between stock 96 & 103 a few years back and the result was not much difference. explanation was the 103 was detuned to meet EPA, the extra cubes made up for the detuning.
the 14's 103 are different than previous with a different cam and breather

The point you left out was an important one IMO. And you're the one that offered the measurements, not me.
