Gutting Catalytic Convertors and Effect on Exhaust Sound
Has anyone tried to drill or knock out the catalyst on the 2007 Road King CVO pipes? Just for better sound.... I got these off a new bike and am putting them on a 04 Carburetored Road King. If I do nothing to them will the converters get too hot from the richer mixture?

RE: Catalytic Convertors Effects on Exhaust Sound
Can't tell you about the converters, but I can tell you they were very quiet, too quiet so I took a drill and started drilling 6 holes around the pipe at the back of the muffler. that definetly helped the sound and also the performance, I have them on my 2000flht 95bb 26g's and VH tru duals. had s&s spo's on but they were alittle loud at freeway speeds for me and so far these cvo pipes seem ok.

Thanks for your input. I was just taking them off so I can cut the pipes off flush with the baffle plate first. Some said that should add a little different tone after the end cap is reinstalled. Then I am going to use a mansory drill bit and punch a few holes throught the convertor.I will consider what you said about the baffle plate as well.
