I see a lot of people say how comfortable monkey bars are what is the biggest difference you notice.

For me the biggest difference was comfort and control. I think I have more control over the bike and it's a comfortable ride. I'm 6'3"

I was wondering the same thing as the OP. I had 12" on my 2007 and would like taller bars on my 2014 but thinking of only using 10". So, are you guys saying I can install 10" bars and use all the original wiring and fluid lines and not extend either? I'm not worried about trying to run my wiring internally. I don't think it will make that big of a difference with only 10" bars.

I'm thinking of installing the Wild 1 12.5" Chubbys, would you think I can use stock wiring with these based on your experience with the 14" bars? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Also, I noticed in your pic that you had the fairing pouch. Is that the 7" wind splitter on your bike as well? I'm curious since I was told it wouldn't fit with a wind splitter, if that's what you have.

I never cared for apes. Then I bought a wide glide with 16inch apes. They really are comfortable.

I spent too much money and went +6 on brake and clutch for my 13 SG...Paul Yaffee 12MBB. Yeah, it was way too much length but I read 1,0000 posts about how you can use stock, you can't use stock, you can go +2, no you can't---you have to go +4, you can re-route, wait--if you re-route, it will be too tight. Soooo....I have +6 and if for some reason, I ever decide to go with 14s or 16s or something---I guess I'll have the length.

I kind of want too try apes, but I do allot of slow speed maneuvering and I've heard they make thingslike that difficult

I can only speak for myself---the absolute only time I have a "stretch" is when backing in and maneuvering where I'm flipping the bars back and forth to get into a perfect parking spot. I'm not sure what slow speed maneuvering you are referring to, but I've yet to have anything made difficult. I do notice that things are made easier with my backrest when backing in. I thought slow speed acceleration where I was turning at the same time would be difficult...like taking off from a stop sign and turning at the same time--no issue! I can still do a figure 8 in my neighborhood road--no issue. Truly, I think the bike handles so much better with my arms being straight out in front of me. Granted, I only have 12s, so it may be harder if you go taller. But I had the same reservations you have and I was grinning ear to ear when I did my first test ride and noticed how things felt good.
