Default Road King on the brain.

For the last couple of months I keep thinking about going from my Limited to a Road King. I don't know why but I keep thinking about a RK set up with some 14" or 16" apes. Maybe its wanting to get back to a more elimental bike. Anyone else made a switch like this?

I moved up to a Road King. Not from a Limited, but it was more of what I wanted. IMHO, the Road King is the most versatile of all the touring bikes. It loads up and strips down like no other bike in the touring class. If your feeling the urge, maybe its what you really want.

I really like my RK; I rode the Fatboy the other day and it was not any where near as stable on the Road. It is lighter though.

Luckily for me I never had that delima, like Bikerlaw said it's the most versatile bike HD makes. I arrange it to fit my needs for the ride, here are my three configurations, don't need the lowers as I live in SE Texas

The King is the THING! It is the most versatile Harley; the best combo of form & function. Only time I use my windsheild is when I go to Daytona.

No matter what other bike I own, there will always be a King in my garage.

i am a fan of the fairings. but having the option to just take off and on the windshield is a huge benefit. i suppose you can get a detachable fairing for a king too. i know that stuff is $$$, you could always do the detachable tour pak and see how you like that, maybe a slimmer seat, there different ways to make it 'smaller' .....
just some other ideas for ya..... different stroke for different folks....

I think the Road King is the one singular bike that most represents what Harley Davidson is all about. I need to get one before i croak.

When I bought my first Harley I told the salesman I didn't even want to look at a King. What a mistake. I now have a '13 CVO King and it's the best bike I've ever owned. I can dress it up with windshield and tourpack, I ordered a detachable fairing for longer rides. Or I can strip it down and ride it out. Great scoot.
