Plus I have the drivers and passenger back rest, 4 point dock with luggage rack if I ever want to go further.
Yup. Stick a sissybar bag on the luggage rack (easier to use when you travel than a tourpak in my mind--it comes into the hotel with you) and the Road King is a great tourer.

Can't beat a King, does it all, either bar-hopping or the long haul. I have done 2 coast to Coast trips and would do another in a heartbeat

Love it! Not sure why more folks don't get rid of them gangly looking oopsy bars, cept that they do make them oopsies a lot less expensive.

I moved from a 2011 Electra Glide Classic (which I turned into an Ultra - man, that was expensive and stupid). Anyway, wife wasn't riding anymore and the EGC wasn't really a one-up motorcycle - felt like I was driving a Lincoln when all I wanted was a Ford. I ended buying an end of season 2012 Road King and I love it. As a solo rider, I'm no fan of fairings and I don't like draggin' around a big box on the back end. I like riding without the windshield at times and I don't need music.

For trips, wrap a bag or two around the passenger backrest and a 2-up luggage rack and you're good for a couple weeks. Throw the bags in the basement when you return. I like seeing the nice clean lines of the rear fender - can't see it that well with a tour pak. Well, that' my story. Good luck in your decision.

Like many others, I'll probably move up to something bigger when I get more time to do longer trips. Until then I just can't see it. It's in the name you know? You're either Limited or you're King.
