At 27000 miles your lifters may look like this.

The lifter didn't flake it just seems a if the hardness wore off. I had 204 cams in and they are toast as well. Wore the exhaust lobe and the intake as well on the rear cylinder. I have run Amsoil since new and change every 5000 miles. I've never seen metal anywhere after a drain. I also check my oil very carefully after the drain.
On a good note though, my crank run out was only 1.25 thous. I couldn't believe it so I un hooked my dial caliper and reinstalled and got the same number. I was ecstatic. My oil pump on the inside still has the machine marks all the way around. So just the lifter was bad and the roller was still free fyi. Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else but at 25,000 to 30,000 if you don't have the ESP you might think of taking a look.
One more thing, here's my cam tensioner's, there was hardly any wear at all.
