Default ABS not working

NEED HELP!!!!!!!!

I just put my bike on the ground tonight for the first time since I swapped wheels. The abs light is on and the abs does not work with the 18" wheel on. I have the correct abs bearing in it too.

I threw my 08 wheel on and the abs light goes off and it works fine. I read on line it could be my rotors so I swapped the 08 rotors to the new wheel...... My 08 rotors on 18" wheel still no luck....Help!!!! I do not know what else to do

Are you shure about the ABS bearing on the new wheel?
Green (ABS) bearing is on the left side?

I bought the 9276A bearing. That is the part number Harley said was the ABS bearing. It is red on one side.

Here is the HD ABS bearing. It's about 2mm wider than the non-ABS bearing because it contains the ABS encoder. HD is the only vendor for this bearing. Your parts guy has the part number incorrect. It appears he gave you the non-abs part number:

Here is the non-ABS bearing:

This pic is how the front bearings and the internal spacer look before install. The ABS bearing is on the left in the photo below. It is also oriented as it will be installed in the front wheel with the orange/red seal side facing inward. So once installed, you should see the green/brown seal side of the bearing facing outward.

This is the color that should be facing outward on the ABS bearing:

Lowcountry joe yes your bearing/part numbers are correct. That is the two bearing I bought. I am in the process right now of flipping my ABS bearing. I installed it red side out. I would say that is the problem. Thanks for the help and replies!

No problem. And you are not the first one to install it red side out, so don't feel too bad about it! At least you do your own work..more than most can say.

Yea at $99 a hour rate and some of the idiots at Harley I will choose to do my own. The crazy thing is the way it looks the red side should be out. I had a buddy look at and he said the same. Crazy Harley engineers!!

Gray side out always on ABS bearings. Another issue that happens occasionally is the wheel being put on backwards and last but not least, excess anti seize getting on the ABS pick up. Obviously the ABS light goes out once the bike starts moving. Not sure if everyone is aware of this.

Glad that they mystery is solved. Now that it is, how about posting a picture or two of the bike and the new wheels?
