Also afriend of mine has a gadget that basically is a remote control for the ipod. He keeps the Ipod in the fairing glove compartment and controls it remotely. He's away on vacation, but that's the route I'm probably going to take.

Here I found it, I'm going to give this a shot. It looks like I will be able to keep my ipod in the fairing glove box and operate it via wireless remote.

I Velcro mine to dash, actually to a small blank space on the fork cover just below the neutral indicator light strip. Just takes one of those round dots. Seems pretty secure and I can take it off easiely when parking the bike or if it starts to rain.
