Default Bright *** Lights BAL-1 or BAL-2

A Bright *** Light taillight is on my winter mod list, I can't decide between the 4 led BAL-1 and the 12 led BAL-2. Opinions from those of you that have them would be appreciated.

To each his own but the BAL-1 works great for me. The 4 leds are plenty bright. I can't imagine brighter. Of the 3 modes, I have mine set to medium. Th highest intensity is just too bright. I guess I wonder why they even bother with 12. I think it's like Spinal Tap.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a BAL-2...Maybe nobody's lived to tell the tale.

I have a BAL-1...Always wanted one on my old bike, and I had the dealer put one on (10% off) when I got the new bike. I also have a run/turn/brake controller...Lots of light on my rear end for a bike with no tour pak.

I guess if the money's burning a hole in your pocket, go for it...But I have yet to see anything brighter than a BAL-1

BAL-1, 4 LED model is plenty.... I've been told by riders following me that the "D!@# Brake light will give you seizures".... It's plenty bright, and Pulse mode at application of brakes is a real attention getter.

Seriously, the BAL-1 is bright enough.

I've bought a few of the BAL-3S with the 4 LED's...amazingly bright. As said, plenty of light. Versus the price difference that would be my choice.

Update - just ordered BAL-1R. Plenty of light for $200. Why pay $400 for 12 LED's when 4 LED's will capture anyone's attention.

BAL-1 user here and for exactly the same reason. Got it from Kutter for about $179 to my door as I recall.

The BAL-1 is unbelievably bright and has lots of settings to choose from. All you need for sure!

Thanks for all of the replies, it's hard to justify paying double. One question I still have is about side visibility, I remember reading somewhere that the 12 led is more visible from side angle.
