Default How about a little Power Vision autotune schooling?

My Power Vision should arrive next week. As I understand it, Fuel Moto will send it with a map that should work pretty well with my bike specs but I'll need to dial it in for my particular bike. I've read the manual and understand the mechanics of autotune, but I'm a little unsure about the process of taking their tune and building on it. My normal riding is split 50/50 interstate and 2 lane rural roads. Should I make several runs? How long should each run be? Should I ride normally, or run the RPM up to cover all the bases? I'd appreciate an insight I can get from you guys that have done it.

Thanks

David

i would listen to what Jamie at fuel moto says. However, if you want other advice. Keep the autotune runs short. 20 to 30 minutes max. Focus on trying to get all the map cells covered. I beleive it takes approx 25 hits per cell to change them. It is harder to get the ones in the upper RPMs and Lower RPMs.

You have six slots to save files. 1st slot is your original factory map once you marry the unit to the bike. then you will have the fuel moto tune in one of the remaining 5 slots. For each autorun tune you can save to a different slot until they are all full.

I have three slots full. Base map, power map and fuel economy map. the other 3 slots are all reserved for tuning runs.

Fuel Moto and Dynojet both have some pretty good videos. I watched them and they walked me right through it. It did make some improvement on Jamie's already excellent map.

The VE table has an X and Y axis with one being throttle position and the other being RPM. You want to try and ride the bike in all possible combinations when recording data to collect information in all cells for the best possible tune. So try and stay at 1500 rpm's for 3 to 5 seconds at 10% throttle, then 2000 rpm's for 3 to 5 seconds at 10% throttle. You would do this for every 500 rpm's up to redline for 10%, 20%, 30% thru 100% throttle. If you were able to do this you would capture data for all VE cells and if you did this 4 or 5 times you should be at a point where the data in the VE tables would not change much after that. That being said it is really hard to hit some or the cells on the street. The high RPM range is hard to get data for the low % throttle positions but how often do you ride at 5500 rpm's at 10% throttle? Probably never..LOL
