The rake steering head/tail number for the Fatboy are 32 degrees/5.8 in and the Road King numbers are 26 degrees/6.2 in. The Road King will turn inside the Fatboy due to the head angle. This may well be the reason there are so few Police applications for Softails.

parking lot manuverability is a little tough,
I agree, but only because I am 5'6" & have short legs. My old 01 Heritage was easier to manuever in a parking lot for me because it sat lower & wasn't quite as wide.

I solved that problem with an adjustable height air suspension.

It's beating a dead horse, but add me to the list of those who were surprised at how well the baggers handle! With in minutes I realized that my Ultra out performed my Heritage.

If you are having trouble with your touring model in parkinglots it has nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with how your riding it. Learn to turn your bike with the bars at full lock while also working to clutch and your "problems" will disappear. Stop "duck walking" the bike as you park and let the engine do the work for you and your experiences in parking lots will be much different.

The only area where a softail beats a bagger is the "B" motor which is much smoother.
Damn, thats the only thing I wish my SG had, then for me, it would be utopia but for now it's pretty darn close.

Wow, good thread.

I am going from an 05 FXDWG to an 07 FLHRS (by this Friday) and was wondering if I would be trying to control a beast compared to my FXDWG.

Sounds like it will be better on the bagger.

I got sucked into the bagger world when my dealer bet me they handled 10 times better than my current ride( in 1992) my 91 heritage softail. I could not believe how agile it was at low speeds, it out handles every other harley model period. Its because of the non raked out front end.

I would rate my old Heritage about a 4 for handling and my current King about an 8 out of 10.
