Black chrome is rather brittle and I'd never recommend it for a motorcycle wheel. We experimented with it and found that it does not hold up like regular chrome. let's see what sport chrome says, but that is my .02.

 

Yes we do offer Black Chrome plating. It is a very popular finish and we have been doing more in the past few months than we have done in a very long time. I just did some samples for Snap-On today and they loved it.

Yes our black chrome is as durable as our traditional chrome. In the past we used a process that required a clear coat to be applied after plating to ensure durability. That was fine because the clear was 99% invisible. Our current process does not require a clear coat. I could easily see how you could be dissatisfied if you had got a black chrome wheel from another plater that was not cleared. It would not stand the test of time or miles. Hogpro, I would be more than happy to do some black chrome wheels for you and your clients. Just let me know.

JR, I'd be interested in getting a set of my wheels done in the black chrome if it is durable enough to hold up to daily use. We manufacture custom wheels thus it could prove to be mutually beneficial.
