Dead ultra
My bike is dead again. same symptoms as last month. It quits, or stalls on launch, but will fire up right away again and then stall. Last month they redid my wiring harness, and it has run great for 5000 miles, but today it started to act up again. I have searched for recalls, but none show, and I am at a complete loss.

RE: Dead ultra
I have not checked the sensor, but will. When the engine dies, or is about to die the check engine light comes on, but no codes show up. I know, they are supposed to, but they don't. I know it has to do with the efi, because when I hit the run switch again, I do not always hear the pump start up. The tech that redid my wiring harness may have missed a wire or two, or maybe one of his connections is poor. When I get the bike home, I will replace every wire. I tried to buy one from the dealer, he laughed. I just wished when he had it all apart he would have replaced every wire rather than just the ones he thought were suspect.
FYI, I called three HD dealers to see if they could check the bike with their equipment and all three were at least one week away before they could even hook it up for diagnostics. (bulls**t) I also called Donny Petersen @ Heavy Duty Cycles (you know the tech guy from A.I.M. and biker TV), and he said he would do it right away. From now on I am going to give him all of my business. www.heavydutycycles.com

Exactly my thought...the lean angle sensor...sonds like a natural. I had to lay mine down (standstill and high centered and just could not get a foot to the ground) and had the same symptom. Maybe all you have to do is reset all the codes (see owner's manual)....just sounds like the problem to me.

TC, I will own this bike till my dieing day, then it will be crushed and buried with me. It was a gift for my 40th birthday from Liz. I own other bikes, and will buy more, but she is in the stable for life. (Seriously, it will probably go to my brother, who is the only person I have let ride it to date)
I can't deliver your wheels on a crotch rocket. You will have to pick them up.

I know your bike has sentimental value to you, but the fact remains that you have a bike that is not up to Harley Davidson standards. I would be on the phone to the folks in Milwaukee and work your way up to the CEO if you have to. Your bike should not be giving you a bit of problems being so new. I would put the bike in the shop, and wait it out and make HARLEY fix it and fix it for good. That is their committment to excellence that they preach.
Good luck.

RE: Dead ultra
I thought about your comments, and put the bike into a H.D. Dealer, and did call Deeley's, the exclusive dealer for all of Canada. Spoke to John White, who is the top service rep for H.D. here, and he is "looking into it" It's not about the money, I would rather have to pay again for the repair, but get it fixed properly with a reasonable explaination for the recurring problem. The last thing I want is to be 2,000 miles from home with Liz and have her die again. Losing confidence in your ride is a real bad feeling.
