Default Any detachable tourpacs on 2014 Limiteds?

Was checking out a 2014 Limited on Saturday at the dealership. The salesman couldn't tell me if the tourpac could be made detachable. Anyone done it?

No .

Well technically yes but it's a fairly complex conversion
Would have to cut/splice in electrical connectors for lights and change the permanent mount all over to a quick disconnect system

It can be done, one of the guys here did it.

He used Plasma Rods, and it turned out SHARP!

I'd be willing to wager the moco will come out with a kit soon....

Would have been an easier mod if the MOCO hadn't decided to remove the rear turn signal bar on 14's..

Indeed! It does seem a strange move, especially after they went to so much trouble a few years ago to introduce detachable TP mounts.

It can be done with some work. An option would be to switch out the rear fender with one from a road king(matching color) then you would have the tail light turn signal set up. There is no wire harness yet but this can be made.

I did it on my '14 Ultra. Remove saddlebags and remove four bolts that hold the TP base on. Wires and antennae are quick disconnect and coil nicely under the seat. I fitted a set of RoadKing turn signals to the rear fender. It requires drilling two holes. The brake light has a separate wire harness so, the turn signals plug right into the brake light assembly .

There is a dealer meeting this week for P&A. I am betting we may see some lights designed for the slots in the strips between the fender and bags

You're saying the plugs are there and ready to go?

For the turn signals. If you take the brake light lens off, just to the left of the chrome bolt there are two 3/8" x 3/8" female receptacles that the turn signals plug into.
