Default Removed caliper body bolt instead of pin bolt

Ok, apparently I'm the only guy who's ever done this, searched and couldn't find any info on this prob.

So I had to replace fork seals, figured replace front pads while everythings apart, getting on the thin side. Started with L. side, and somehow removed caliper body mounting bolts instead of pin bolts, seen fluid leaking out of caliper body, realized after both bolts completely loosened.

Quickly tightened em back up, cussed, trying to figure if I did any major damage. Obviously need to bleed now, but fluid was already in terrible shape, master cylinder full of sediment.

Will having loosened bolts messed up pistons? nothing fell out, just the fluid. Hoping I just need to bleed em, but don't want to half *** the front brakes.

No big deal. Just bleed and check for leaks. You should be okay.

And if it does leak, you'll just need new seals for the caliper halves. Still no big deal.

I agree that you'll probably be ok. But if you're into it that far the rebuild kits are cheap, and if your fluid looked bad it's probably just a matter of time till you have pistons sticking anyway. I'd just rebuild them anyway.

Easy fix, just get the brake fluid cleaned up and off of any painted surface. It will eat paint and powder coat.

So, what was the outcome? Just tighten em back up, bleed the brakes and everything was OK? No problem with seals, gaskets etc?

Just curious in case I make the same mistake.
