As stated earlier you can replace both relatively cheap. Peace of mind is priceless.
Exactly, cracking in between the tread is the most common sign of failure. But then it's your arss not mine.

Pointed this out to a riding buddy of mine on his bike last year before we left going to Thunder Beach. He had a couple of cracks in the tread and his response was "Awe their good. Only got 4,000 miles on em". Rear tire blew out on the way home right at the Fl/Al stateline coming home.

They're the only thing between you and the ground so be safe and change 'em.

I'd vote to change them as well; at the least, with 6k miles, the rear is a bit squared off. You know you want new ones! C'mon!

Well now I see why the guy divorced her. Gave her a $2500.00 cash deposit and told her I'd go to the bank and get her the rest in the form of a certified cashiers check on Monday Morning, as she would not take a check, Understandable, and did not want that much cash in her hand, particularly on a Sunday. Got there last night and she sold the bike for $500.00 more after she said it was mine. She did not even allow me to counter offer, nor did she call me to tell me not to drive the hour to her house with a rented trailer. Now she wants to keep $500.00 saying I did not bargain in good faith knowing what the blue book was on the bike and for taking advantage of a woman, she is legally entitled to the $500.00. For crying out loud we are talking about $500.00 here not $5000.00. At this point she hasn't given me anything back. I do at least have a receipt for the 2500.00, but it looks like a court battle. What a pain in the azz! She claims if I come by her house again she will file a restraining order. WTF, I went once and made the offer which she accepted, then went back according to our agreement to pick up the bike. Its an hours ride, so I have no intention on going back. Talking to an attorney this morning and a nice deposit for her as well! Geez......

I usually don't say this, but you might want to try the cops.

Since when did it become the job of the buyer to educate a seller on the value of what they have. Her argument won't hold up in court... Like ^^^^^^ said, I would be inclined to call the local PD and see if it can be treated as a theft.

I know it's too late but for other people out there....You should at least use an escrow account if you plan to leave money for any item and have to bring more money or cannot pick it up right then. An escrow account will keep this from happening and protect both the buyer and seller.

Had the same thing happen to a buddy and he had an written agreement. He went to pick up a classic car, put $5,000 down and then the next Monday went to the post office for a certified check and returned and the car was sold to another person. The only problem with his agreement is that it clearly said no refunds. He ultimately won in small claims but to this day has not ever gotten a dollar back. He just keeps refreshing the claim every 3-5 years so the judgement shows up on the persons credit report.
