Now that leaking issues have been addressed, what would most guys opt for the air-cooled or twin-cooled (liquid)? I'll be buying a bagger this spring and am still trying to decide which one.

For me, it's not about liquid cooled or not, its about the other options that you may or may not want between the limited and ultra.

Its hard to pass up a new limited, when you add up the options its a deal.

I researched it since the 2014's came out and I just ordered a black ultra classic with the bigger radio. Even with the upgrade, it saved me over $2000. Here are my reasons other than the savings, I didn't care for the glossy black inner fairing, I don't need a cb. I like the clean look of the tour pack without the luggage rack. I didn't care about heated grips and the sot important, I've never owned a bike with lowers so at least I have the option of removing them on the classic versus I would be stuck with them on the limited. I also was very Leary of the twin cooling. I know they say its fixed with the filler neck and cap but now they are leaking at the thermostat housing. What's next?

Limited. Check out the American Iron article in issue 305, on sale till 1/7 so it might be hard to find.Claims a 30F drop in oil temp and a 200 to 250F drop in head temp. Compared to the total air cooled motor of the same size. Allows for higher compression. The twin cooled motors do not retard timing like the air cooled motors. During hot summer riding conditions the air cooled motors retard timing to cool the motor, you don't experience that loss with the twin cooled setup on the Limited. The only downside to the Limited; you can't remove the lowers. Harley did a good job redesigning the lowers, the vents allow excellent air flow if desired. If the price difference works for you, I recommend the Limited. Good luck

I really like having useable lowers.

That's another thing, the 2014 lowers with the hinges are finally useable and now if you get a limited, you loose the storage. It was a tough decision for me because I really loved the two tone charcoal and black of the limited. Maybe next time around I will try out the twin cooled.

Neither, get A Street Glide and build it up......so you then only get the bits you really want......and the Tour Pak and lowers are detachable.
