Limited. For those that say SG then add on, I disagree. Been there done that and the ride is not near as good. I had more $$ in my SG doing the detachable TP and adding lowers etc. then I did with having the tour pack, lowers plus much more for less $$ on the Limited.

It does of course depend on what you want. I found after awhile I never removed the lowers or tourpack so what did I gain. Traded the SG on the limited last year at Sturgis and never looked back.

Here are my reasons other than the savings, I didn't care for the glossy black inner fairing, I don't need a cb. I like the clean look of the tour pack without the luggage rack. I didn't care about heated grips and the sot important, I've never owned a bike with lowers so at least I have the option of removing them on the classic versus I would be stuck with them on the limited. I also was very Leary of the twin cooling. I know they say its fixed with the filler neck and cap but now they are leaking at the thermostat housing. What's next?
I also bought the Ultra Classic, for many of the reasons Hedgehog describes - although I did add heated grips. But the main reason was that I didn't want permanent lowers and a potentially problematic cooling system, and I did want the other great Rushmore improvements.

I'm very happy with the Classic, but I bought based on avoiding what I knew would irritate me, while gaining what I knew I'd love! Only you know where *your* preferences are.

Personally:

1. I WANTED the wethead. And from what I can tell so far, it DOES very much improve the rider comfort/heat issue.

2. I WANTED lowers, that I could actually use and not have to take off when its hot. Ive never had them before, because of the heat retention issue. This is a non issue with the wethead. Don't miss the lack of storage, as I never had it before.

3. I wanted the 6.5 radio. Spendy option on the Ultra

4. Would have preferred no luggage rack on the trunk, but Ill live with it.

5. Ill probably never use the CB or intercom, but oh well.

6. Contrast chrome wheels on the limited, although Im probably gonna change them out, but for the time being, they look nicer/may resell for more once I swap.

7. I like the paint/stripe layout much better on the limited.

Honestly, aside from the first two, directly related to the wethead, I probably would have been better off with the Ultra, or another SG with a trunk added, but I also got my Limited for $1500 off due to the 800 miles It had on it. So I went with the Limited. But mostly, cause I WANTED a wethead.
