Installed a set of laser cut heat shields I picked up from the classifieds here. Here are a couple pics:

it looks like they have a mesh or screen. I would have the same worry - they let heat out where you don't want it.

I had wrapped pipes, with no shields, on my evo. They were so hot I went back to shields.

Since the stage one, heat has not been an issue. I can't imagine heat coming off the pipes will be much, if any worse, with the cutouts and chrome mesh fillers than with the solid shield. I will be able to test it out in just over six months or so.

Any issues with these and heat? I am looking to replace my stock shields, and am wondering if it might be a better idea to let some heat vent, or to completely cover the pipes. I want to go to black shields, and am thinking either these or the plain black ones.

TIA.

They look great but I think the functionality of the heat shield has just been knocked down quite a bit. Good idea though!!

Heat shields have been on two years now and through two hot central VA summers. Heat coming off the pipes is no more noticeable than with OEM shields.
