Glad that you got this installed. After searching for my switch, I think I will go with this setup as well. Probably better since I won't have to have my hands leave the bars to activate it.

I recently completed this mod as well. The remote does not have to be a 12 v remote. The AutoSwitch is 12 v, it simply closes the circuit on your remote when activated, no voltage other than the battery power goes through the door remote.

This is a "nice-to-have" mod.....actually, aren't they ALL nice-to-have

I don't think you can go wrong with this.

Where are you now?

Sorry..I didn't clarify why I mentioned the 12VDC remote. I am able to run the remote off of the bikes 12 VDC so no battery needed. I think it would be a pain to have to remove the fairing front just to change a remote battery......

I'm at the place mentioned in my From: under my aviator pic. Our systems are monitored so I can't type the place. Doing okay, going through serious HDForum withdrawls. Not to mention my family and bike. Otherwise, it's a great day!

That's one thing I can't tell you. I started with a smaller than LED size and worked my way up until the LED would not quite make it all the way in..kinda gives a flush mount look. Even though it was very tight I used clear silicone behind it to keep it in place and to keep water from getting into the fairing innards.

Here's my solution for an Ultra. I took a stock odometer reset switch and mounted it opposite the CB headset receptacle on the console. Since this is plastic drilling a hole was easy. Soldered the wires from the switch to the circuit board of the opener. Left the circuit board outside the case and mounted it under the plastic portion of the dash with foam tape. The only difference from the photo is that Iflipped over the circuit boardthe to get the antenna up in the plastic portion for better reception. I personally like being able to hit a momentary switch once rather than double flipping the high beam switch. The disadvantage is having to remove your hand fromthe handle bar to hit the switch.

With the garage door openerswitch matching the odometer switchon the fairing and in a similar location to the odometer switch on Road Kings it doesn't look like an add on.
