Helps with the blow-by out of the air cleaner. My 2012 will blow out that 1/2 quart every time I bring it up to the full mark, so I figure why waste the oil and have to clean it off the bike. I have a pair of jeans my wife calls my "oil change jeans" just for that reason, they have a nice oil stain on the inside of the right leg starting about the knee and going down!
