Default Rivera clutch? UPDATE!

I believe I burned up the clutch in my 2011 Limited after 24,000 miles. I found a clutch kit by Rivera, one extra clutch plate, ten percent stronger spring. J & P part # 630-338 Primo mechanics choice extra plate clutch kit. I have 255 cams, ride two up, and figure the way I ride, the extra holding power is needed. Input?

I've never heard of anyone burning up a clutch in 24,000 miles...are you sure it just doesn't need adjustment or a bigger spring?

Clutch shouldn't be shot in 24K, are you sure it's adjusted correctly?

I've seen clutches ruined in far fewer miles on cop bikes, but that under pretty severe training abuse.

Agree w/rooti.

What makes you believe you burned it up?

Is it slipping? To answer your question it is a fine clutch. Holds my numbers just fine.

How did you fix your slipping clutch mat?

I agree with everyone else -- I'd
try adjusting first -- then if that does not work I would look into AIM products --

Default Adjustment

I will pull the cover and check the free play. It slips real bad, won't hook at all in third or fourth on a power shift. It did show up right after I had a new rear shift lever installed, which requires the chain case be removed, clutch etc. I sure hope that is all that is wrong. If it isn't, the severity of slippage would mean it is seriously hurt. I vaguely remember last summer it didn't lock instantly on a WOT 3 to 4 shift,,,,,,, very slight delay.

It almost sounds like the jam nut on the clutch is loose letting the adjuster screw turn or the clutch wasn't adjusted when you had the work done.
