Default oil capacity w/ HD premium oil cooler

I intend on installing an HD premium oil cooler on my 05 ultra and i'm curious about how much additional oilwill berequired to fill the crankcase. After doing a search, and also asking a few HD service techs I 've recievedvariousresponses. Can some of you folks who are using the HD premium cooler give me an accuratefigure. Thanks.

I run the same cooler, same amount of oil is used, remember the cooler tubes really are not that big.

Thanks. I figured it would not require much more if any at all. Asked two HD service techs, one said at least a half qt and the other said a full qt. I would have checked once I did the install, but these responses made me curious. Thanks again for the help.

I just run the bike after install and fill back to the full mark and remember how much I added for my next oil change.

Just installed on (super premium) on my 05 Ultra. Pain in the butt to get the hoses slipped on all the way. Any case, instuctions say 1/2 to 1 pint.

I'm wondering if the oil will drain out of it during an oil change? Don't think so.

Has anyone accounted for draining the oil from the cooler during oil changes? Maybe some sort of drain valve?

I have the H-D premium oil cooler. And have tried to account for whats in the cooler. I don't think that you can even with the "Scavenger" methode of changing your oil because the thermostat housing in the filter spin on. It won't open until engine temp is up. Then its really not to go to change that oil you'll be boiling yourself if it get onto you at that temp.

I think the best way would be to pull a lineor two from the cooler and let it run out warm!
