I'm in the market for a backrest myself- leaning heavily towards the H-D adjustable unit as mentioned here...

I've got the adjustable on my ultra. Best non performance upgrade you can do.

I'm using the HD adjustable one on my SG. It's pricey, but worth it for anything over 3 hours or so.

Ditto, have the adjustable HD, wouldn't be without it. It just feels right some how.

I have an '05 Ultra and was thinking of adding the backrest.

Question; does it force you to sit "too" upright? I have heard of people complaining about that and actually attempting to bend the bracket to get more angle.

Either the HD or the Mustang adjustables are worth their weight in gold! HD's is only available in button-tufted if that helps narrow it down. Had the same experience with the Mrs, but she also missed it as a grab point to help climb on. So it never came off again!

Does the HD adjustable backrest fit a Sundowner seat? Or do I have to stick with their brand?

Am I the only one who hates there backrest?
If you enjoy sitting on the tank, buy one.
I love the idea of it and may rework it and see what happens.

added a few washers to change the angle a little.(behind forward mount bolt), also with iso wing(or any type pegs) keep from that forward pushing feeling. really need a pix here, but im at work.
on a long long trip did adjust it forward while i stretched forward to relieve that sacrol stress on lower back. and another thing thats good about adj. bikes beside/behind blinding me with light, leanfforward out of view from mirrors. ok lets talk about oil again
