They won't warrantee them if I don't keep my pressure within their recommendations (44-50). I need to drop my rear 888s to 42 PSI to put more rubber on the pavement. Not that they'd know and also what are the odds of a warrantee situation. I haven't checked out the Avon Cobras, but will look into them. I have heard good things about the Commander II, ENOUGH WHERE Id give them a shot. So thumbs down, WAY DOWN on the 888s, I thought they'd be the ****. I was dead wrong.Probably should have kept the 880s but I had figured new and improved would have been better not worse. Live and learn...Dean

Cool metzelers

hi guys, 20 years ago i had a 1983 flhtc with stock tires, and replaced them with metzelers, i was very pleased at the time! but you guys are talking today not yesterday! i've got a 2006 road king classic with 14k. i replaced the rear tire at 13k with another dunlap! i grew up riding motorcycles in seattle, washington, so i know about riding in the rain! wet riding is best with a sticky compound with a little lower air pressure! cheers from montana

My friend just went thru an 888 in 4-5 months. All I can comment on is the wear. He is an aggressive rider who rides a lot (24k in 12 months on his '13 FLHX). He says he got about 10k on his 888. He's trying a Michelin Commander now. Just give him another 12-24 months and he will have tested most tires out there!

I used a Dunlop Elite 3 on my '08 FLHX and got 17-18k and I am also a fairly aggressive rider. I'll use the Dunlop E3 when it's time for new rubber.

Just as a side note, my wife has 14k on the stock tire that's on her Fat Boy, with plenty of tred left. But she's an extremely conservative rider. . . .

I have tried the avons previously and they definitely handled well no doubt, but i also only got about 5k on the rear. I am a somewhat aggressive rider, no burnouts, just ride hard and just couldn't justify the cost of replacing the tire every 5k for the trade off of slightly better handling.. I have since gone back to the D407/408 combo.

FWIW, my experience has shown that 16" tires tend to last longer than 18" ones. I'm talking about 880's

Default Tires Concern

I've looked around and didn't find anything quite like my tire concern, and originally posted it here. After thinking about this, I then decided that this should not interrupt this thread so I have opened a new thread and moved my question. Please me for my mistake.

Your embarrassed friend,

Glenn

I had 880's on my bike and they were great. Ordered them again and the shop put on 888's by mistake. I decided to give them a try and what a big mistake, the 888 does not compare to the 880 when it comes to handling or smoothness at high speeds. They may last longer, but I hope not. I'll never buy them again.

From what I've heard. The 880 is being replaced by the 888
