Most hobbies pull funds out of our budgets. The "too much" piece will vary between a lot of us.

I've spent an awful lot of money over the years on bikes, cars & trucks. I've even invested in a home theater type hobby, but I think bird watchers spending $1000 on binoculars are morons.

I'm sure we all have limits, and justification to most expenditures, but yes, I would categorize the harley hobby as expensive.

I bought a seven year old bike with only 2k miles on it, and have had 25,000 trouble free miles. So no, I don't think it cost too much. And I don't consider it a hobby. I use it as much as I can when temperatures are over 40, and I save a lot on gas. Main expense has been rear tires, but better mileage than my truck makes it about a wash.

I started riding 10 years ago. I liked riding before, but I love riding my Harley. It would be one of the last expenses I would give up.

All ALONE... Really sure it costs money, but you could ride a Honda Rebel. Or a Vespa. I used to get the same satisfaction riding my lawn mower, but not as good a view.

And pray tell what do you work for anyway? Sit home and save all your money for a rainy day, retirement, kids college funds???

You think this is expensive try owning a BMW.
All hobbies are expensive just to varying degrees. Try restoring a car sometime. Went down that road as well, then moved on. I don't worry about it anymore as Long as I can fit it in the budget I'll continue

Money is gonna go somewhere, I'm just glad I can afford to have a bike and do the things I want to it years ago I couldn't afford a bike at all and that really sucked!!! I bought a new ultra limited this year and have put $4500 into it already adding another $1500 this week and it's worth every penny. My bike makes my mood every time I ride it and that is priceless. I have a boat and that cost a lot to ruin as well but it puts a smile on my face and more importantly my kids faces. You only get one shot, there are no redoos, so you better enjoy it while you can!!!
