Newer doesn't mean better, necessarily. Sounds like a good deal on a nice bike. Take some time to learn to deal with heavy weight and enjoy the ride. I recommend viewing "Ride like a pro" video. So good tips on there.

Congratulations on a Greta bike and what sounds like a good price................enjoy. Like has been said, if this is your first heavy bike, consider the MSF course.

Congrats! While the newer bikes offer some different features, it's never been about those for me, it's about the RIDE, not just what you are sitting on while you do it!

The 08 is a nice machine, it will take you down just as pretty of roads, and do it just as quickly as you want to go down it. Like was mentioned already, take a course. No matter your experience, you'll learn something. The heavier bikes are not any harder to ride, just different to ride.

Enjoy the road!

Even though JUST ME was being condescending, his attitude, unfortunately, is pretty average in the Harley world today. In fact, its all over this forum on a daily basis. I read all the time about "don't get an '08 or older, they handle like crap," or how low powered the 96" engines are so don't buy anything older than an '11, or how cool running the '14 Limiteds are so don't buy anything older than a '14 Limited (even if you have to sell the house, wife and kids to finance it.)

Not to be a dick, but the 08 and down are prehistoric technology in comparison to the 09-13 and not even on the same planet as the 2014.
But, you will still love it just the same.
Not to be a dick, but you say it anyway.
Congrats to the OP on your new ride. Enjoy...

I'll bet his wife couldn't tell you.

Don't let the Haters get to you. You'll really enjoy the scooter.

Enjoy the scoot. Bought my first Harley in March. It's a '10 Street Glide with the "wimpy" 96". Bought used so I could buy more goodies! So far I've upgraded the seat, handlebars, windshield, and suspension. Got a set of MGS true duals waiting to go on as soon as I get my Woods 222's and PC5 in. Did the bike have to have these mods? No, it's just what I like to do. I've put 9000 miles on her since March with many more to come. Will need a new back tire before spring. The great thing about these bikes IMHO is that with a little research and effort, not to mention money, you can keep them fresh and up to date indefinitely!
As others have said, take the time to become familiar with your new bike...then ride the wheels off her!
